To understand this better, a research was conducted by the CHU de Québec Research Center and Laval University. A group of French Canadians was studied based on their dairy intake and the biomarkers in their metabolic health.

The scientists examined the dairy intakes by measuring the levels of trans-palmitoleic acid. It was interesting to learn that trans-palmitoleic acid seemed to reduce blood pressure and body weight of the participants.

Trans-palmitoleic acid does have goodness for health according to earlier studies.  The good news is that this fatty acid occurs naturally in dairy products. However, our body cannot synthesize it.
