Does increasing your dairy intake reduce the risk of metabolic diseases such as obesity and type 2 diabetes? I read this study this morning and I am glad to share this news with you.
We know that dairy is important in our diet. Every day, you need at least 2 portions of milk products.
We all know that milk is good for our bones. Yet we probably do not know about another good thing about milk products.
To understand this better, a research was conducted by the CHU de Québec Research Center and Laval University. A group of French Canadians was studied based on their dairy intake and the biomarkers in their metabolic health.
The scientists examined the dairy intakes by measuring the levels of trans-palmitoleic acid. It was interesting to learn that trans-palmitoleic acid seemed to reduce blood pressure and body weight of the participants.
Trans-palmitoleic acid does have goodness for health according to earlier studies. The good news is that this fatty acid occurs naturally in dairy products. However, our body cannot synthesize it.
